Happy Fête Nationale (and Bonne Anniversaire, Dad!)

Forget what you learned in French class: real Frenchies don't call July 14th "Bastille Day." Instead, it's the "Fête Nationale". So happy Fête Nationale everybody (and happy birthday to my Dad!) We're planning on checking on the feu d'artfice (fireworks) tonight which are set off with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop, not too shabby. Pic of the Day: the Bastille. The prison which was stormed during the famed "Taking of the Bastille Day" is now missing, replaced by this monument in the middle of a traffic circle. Nearby is the ultra-modern Paris Opera house, one of the two major opera houses in the city.
